Update 7? (ish?)

Hi all!

A productive evening of writing has yielded some more on the nature of the Eluhoth, descendants of the Powers Above and their Bleed of Radiance, covering everything from glowing eyes to blades of holy radiance to beat back the creatures of the Bleed! There may also be a few hints of the Naturae, the nature spirits unaffiliated with either side in the Great War and their power of Cultivation.

As near as I can tell, the writing is about 50% done now, all that's left is building out some of the 'meat' of the content to bulk it out a bit and make it clearer - if you've seen me on https://www.twitch.tv/garblaggames, you'll know that story always trumps system in my books, but I want it to work for those of you who like a bit more crunch to your gaming carrot!

One question I've had that I need to address is "What about the boys?"

As you may have noticed, there's a strong 'ladies first' vibe to Descendants of Darkness - it was nearly called 'Daughters of Darkness', but I didn't want Halestorm to sue me... I'm planning on including an appendix on including male characters in your game and how to apply different game narratives through a masculine lens... (Tongue firmly in cheek here!)

Hi backers!

With the politically titled 'lockdown easing' happening in the UK, I've been back at work, which has slowed my creative output, but the good news is that with the basics already locked in it's just enriching and developing work ongoing.

I've started writing the Eluhoth, the angelic descendants from the stretch goals, with their light based powers.

In other news, I'm giving up my day-job as a teacher to pursue more creative and solo endeavours, so I hope to have more stuff coming out in future...

Hi supporters,

Just a quick update today to let you know that, thanks to the outstanding work she's done on the artwork and promoting the project, that Pat is on board as full partner in Descendants of Darkness instead of 'just' the artist. 

This means full equal footing in the zine and an equal share of any proceeds OR her normal commission rate, whichever is higher once the bills have been paid.

Love your artists! Theirs is a rare and powerful gift to give visuals to your vision!

Terrifying Monster Children!

Wow! That was a tense final few minutes with the last backer tipping us over the £1900 mark in the last 70 seconds!

Now, to work! Pat and I will be drawing and writing to get the first draft all finalised, then layout and printing!

I will be in touch with the Visceral backers for their character inserts soon (FYI, Viscerals will get a 'clean' copy of the book as well as the promised 'distressed' version).

Thank you all so much for believing in this project. Thank you as well to Pat, who has been utterly tireless in drawing and promoting and has been more of a partner than a contracted artist. Finally, thank you to Lzzy Hale who will never read this, but who started the whole process rolling with the song Mz. Hyde...

Stretch Goals!

We've passed £1600, so now is the time to announce the Stretch Goals for the last few days: 

Stretch Goals

At £1600 - The Eluhoth Descent will be added. Eluhoth are the descendants of Divine beings and wield powers of sight and light. - UNLOCKED!

At £1700 - More money for Pat! As you can see from the new front image, Pat has done an amazing job, so I will give her more money!

At £1800 - I will investigate fancier paper or card character sheets (investigate at this stage because I don't know how much more it will be!)

At £1900 - Some Creatures of the Bleed will be added, antibodies and infections of reality...

At £2000 - The Naturae Descent will be added. Naturae are the spirits of the world and the wild, wielding power over the elements.
